Movie Review: Brave

Merida is the daughter of the king and queen -- therefore making her princess of the kingdom. But Merida and her mother, Elinor, have very different ideas of how a princess should behave. When Elinor arranges a competition between three clans for the firstborn to win Merida's hand in marriage, Merida grows angry and rebells against her parents' wishes. Desperate to change her mother, she runs away and unleashes a curse that could change everything.

This movie was so awesome!! The storyline was well thought out and well presented. One thing I liked about Merida: she was flawed. The rest of the Disney princesses never had a hair out of place and were always singing and weren't really flawed. Well, all of Merida's hairs are out of place, and she struggles with her pride. Both she and Elinor struggle with pride and with their relationship with each other.

That brings me to the second good (and slightly bad) point: Merida and Elinor's relationship. Merida was kind of disrespectful towards Elinor at first, but that was because she felt restricted, confined, and felt like Elinor wouldn't listen to her. And because Elinor herself was very strict, always saying things like "Merida, no weapons on the table" or "Don't slouch, Merida". Always correcting, never praising.

I love, though, how their relationship was resolved. Both realized that what they were doing was wrong and agreed to forgive each other, through mysterious circumstances that involve Merida's poor choices. And that brings me to Bad Points.

Okay. Well, there was some sorcery. Or magic. Not quite sure which one. The witch who cast the spell to change Merida's fate was not harmful as a person. She almost seemed like she wanted to stop what she was doing -- almost like a drug addict who wants to stop but can't. She tried to warn Merida against using magic to solve her problems, but Merida refused to listen. In the end, though, one of the morals is don't use magic or witchcraft to solve your problems, because it always ends in chaos.

Then, believe it or not, there was some scenes with naked ... naked behinds. Seriously. That really wasn't necessary. One part was supposed to be funny, but it was just weird.

Then there's the creep factor. This was the most intense Disney/Pixar movie they've ever put out in my opinion. There were no whimsical songs and, believe it or not, no Prince Charming. This movie was all about resolving Merida and Elinor's relationship (which I appreciate) but still, it was really, really intense.

This movie had no language in it whatsoever (yay!) and kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. It was amazingly awesome. I rate it 4 out of 5 stars, one star taken away for that weird naked thing. (Ewww.) Because of the creepiness, I think kids 10 and under shouldn't see it. It was so sad, sitting in the theater, and hearing three-year old kids crying! :(

But, anyway, I totally recommend this movie. It was great, with good morals and an awesome storyline. It's definitely different from any other princess movie Disney has done. (If you can even treat Brave as a princess movie!) So, go see it! Like, right now! :)

Oh, and guess what? The voice of Merida is the lady who played Rowena Ravenclaw in HP & the DH!

And here's my top 10 for the day, day 6 -- top 10 fav foods.

1. Burritos
2. Tacos
3. Fajitas
4. Quesadillas
5. Tortilla chips and salsa
6. Spaghetti
7. ICE CREAM!!! :)
8. Pepperoni and/or sausage pizza<3
9. Waffle Fries (Chick-Fil-A's specifically)
10. Palacinkies (pah-lah-chink-ees -- a German recipe.....it's like really thin pancakes that you roll up into a crepe-like thing. It's really yummy.)

In no particular order. :)

Movie Review: Thor

Thor, in his arrogance, gets banished to Earth (Midgard) as a punishment by his father, Odin. While there, he meets the beautiful scientist Jane Foster and her friends, who are desperately searching for answers to a phenomenon that was caused by Thor himself. While Thor is in Midgard, Thor's evil brother Loki plans to take over Asgard, Thor's home. Can Thor reclaim his powers, save his friends, and save Asgard before it's too late?

The moral of this movie is don't be arrogant and prideful. Pride goes before a fall, as the Bible says, and this movie reaffirms that. It also values loyalty and courage, as the poster says.

There was lots and LOTS of swearing in this movie. Thankfully, I had Clearplay, so they censored it, but -- jeez! They swore like five times in the first half-hour, and swore about fifteen times throughout the whole movie.

Loki

The character development was really good, especially of Loki. I won't give anything away (I'm trying my hardest! :) but it was very good. The guy who played Loki did an amazing job -- he just looks the part, doesn't he? :)

The cinematography was awesome -- Asgard is beautiful! :) And I'm obsessed with eyes now .. photography of eyes, digitally enhanced eyes ... and the Gatekeeper's eyes were creepily beautifully awesome.

Aren't his eyes weird? They're like that the whole movie!

So, I'd give it three out of five stars, two stars taken away for the swearing. Other than the swearing, though, the movie was really good. There wasn't a lot of romance in it, either -- Thor just kisses Jane's hand. Have you guys seen the movie?

Movies

I really, really, really want to see..........

The Avengers!!!! I think that it is AWESOME even though I haven't seen it :)

My favorite characters (as of now, in my ignorance) are Captain America (love his shield!) and Thor (oh, his accent ♥) :)

I might like Hawkeye or Iron Man. Maybe. I don't know yet.

That's a cool little picture, now isn't it?  Had to make it extra large so I could read it. :)

I hope to see the movie ASAP. My dad might not let me see it in theaters though....so, if that's the case, I'll just bide my time watching the other movies like Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man.

BTW, this is the UK trailer. The Avengers premiered on May 4th in America, not April 26th. I would've gotten another one, but this was the only good one. And, the movie's not called Avengers Assemble...just Avengers.

And one more thing. The 39 Clues is being made into a movie!!!! *gasps in excitement* It's going to be released in 2014, the cast hasn't been picked yet, and Steven Spielberg is producing it. I want to play either Natalie Kabra, Sinead Starling, or an extra :D What about you?

Well, that's all :) Creation Museum pics coming soon, I promise!

Courageous Clips

I'm in love. ♥

My top three favorite movies are now:

#1 - Courageous
#2 - Soul Surfer
#3 - Hugo

:DDDD

Anyway, here's some of my favorite parts from the movie. For those who haven't seen it....SPOILER ALERT!

I love Emily!!!! She made me cry :'(

That one's cool. I think they show all of it, but if not.....you'll remember.

Another scene I loved that I couldn't find was the scene that I called "Love Ya, Bye"

Adam (on the phone to Sheriff): Hello? Yes sir.
Adam's Wife: I've got to go. Bye honey.
Adam (to his wife): Okay. Love ya, bye.
Adam (to sheriff): Okay. Yes sir. Thank you sir. Love you, bye.
Adam hangs up, then bangs his fists on the table.
Later...
Adam (to Shane): I can't believe I did that. ... Should I call him back?
Shane: And what, tell him you don't love him?

:) I might not have gotten it all right, but you remember. That was the funniest scene in the whole movie, in my opinion.

Princess Weekend

We had a lot of fun!!!!!! We're on our way to Erie in this picture....

It was really snowy there....we almost crashed into a big truck! No kidding!

Then, we finally made it to Splash Lagoon, which was really fun (and really warm! ☺) This is me waiting for that giant tiki bucket thing to fall.....

Then, after like a half-hour, it finally fell....

Haha look at me :P

Then, I did their "Tree Tops Ropes Course". It was really fun, and slightly scary at times. :)

The next day we traveled back from Erie to Robinson, where we shopped at Five Below, Claire's, and went to the movie theater. I saw the movie Hugo there, and it was really good! It's one of my most favorite movies now. I reviewed it on my media blog if you want to know what it was about (click here).

That's the owl purse I got at Claire's!!!!! Isn't it cute? ♥

Then I got this sweater at TJ Maxx....

Then my Five Below shirts.....

I'm liking owls.

Oh yeah! Improving my ninja t-shirt collection. :)

Then I finally found my "signature scent" as I have heard it called at Bath and Body Works: Pomegranate Citrus. I love the bottle, don't you?

I got hand sanitizer too.....isn't the case cute?

Later that day, we went to the Melting Pot. Yummy, yummy food.....the chocolate and the cheese were absolutely AMAZING!!!!!!!

So, there you go. It was really fun - you guys should do it with your moms too.

Now, I did videos (kind of a video blogging thing) along the way, so I thought you might want to see them. Let's hope they work - this is my first time uploading videos. Let me know if they work or not!

The rest of the videos wouldn't upload....but at least you get two, right?
