Movie Review: Thor

Thor, in his arrogance, gets banished to Earth (Midgard) as a punishment by his father, Odin. While there, he meets the beautiful scientist Jane Foster and her friends, who are desperately searching for answers to a phenomenon that was caused by Thor himself. While Thor is in Midgard, Thor's evil brother Loki plans to take over Asgard, Thor's home. Can Thor reclaim his powers, save his friends, and save Asgard before it's too late?

The moral of this movie is don't be arrogant and prideful. Pride goes before a fall, as the Bible says, and this movie reaffirms that. It also values loyalty and courage, as the poster says.

There was lots and LOTS of swearing in this movie. Thankfully, I had Clearplay, so they censored it, but -- jeez! They swore like five times in the first half-hour, and swore about fifteen times throughout the whole movie.

Loki

The character development was really good, especially of Loki. I won't give anything away (I'm trying my hardest! :) but it was very good. The guy who played Loki did an amazing job -- he just looks the part, doesn't he? :)

The cinematography was awesome -- Asgard is beautiful! :) And I'm obsessed with eyes now .. photography of eyes, digitally enhanced eyes ... and the Gatekeeper's eyes were creepily beautifully awesome.

Aren't his eyes weird? They're like that the whole movie!

So, I'd give it three out of five stars, two stars taken away for the swearing. Other than the swearing, though, the movie was really good. There wasn't a lot of romance in it, either -- Thor just kisses Jane's hand. Have you guys seen the movie?

Fish

Okay. This is the essence of random, and this will be one of my shortest posts ever, but if you scroll down to the bottom of my page, you'll find a "surprise". Not the very very bottom, but right above my archives. :)

Summer Boredom?

Summer is finally here!!! Yay!!!!

I've looked forward to it since practically the first day of school, and....now that it's here, I don't really know what to do. I have a lot of time on my hands. :) Not that I'm complaining.

Thank goodness for Pinterest and books, or else I wouldn't know what to do and Mom would give me chores. :)

Speaking of Pinterest, I found these cool crafts on there. So, if you're suffering from summer boredom like me, here are some cool things to do.

Make-Your-Own T-Shirt (preferably Harry Potter) ;)

You will need:

paper & pencil
a t-shirt
freezer paper
a sharpie fine point marker
an x-acto knife
an iron
a piece of cardboard or poster board
fabric paint & brush

First, sketch your drawing on a piece of paper.

Next, place your design underneath a sheet of freezer paper and trace it neatly with a sharpie.

Now place a piece of cardboard under your freezer paper to protect your table while you cut.  Start by cutting out any "inner" shapes

IMPORTANT: Do not throw these little shapes away! You will need them!

Next, cut out the rest of your design and trim down the excess paper around the outside. (You can throw these parts away.)

Iron the main body of your stencil onto your shirt.

Then add those little inner shapes to the correct places and iron them down.

Place a piece of cardboard between the layers of your shirt to prevent the fabric paint from bleeding through.  Use a stiff brush to apply your fabric paint.

It may take a couple of coats to get good coverage.
Peel off your stencil while it's still wet, then allow your paint to dry according to package directions. (And some fabric paints need to be heat-set, so read the label!)
I got that from stayathomeartist.com. Pictures too. I haven't tried it yet, but it looks cool. I can't wait to try!

Okay. That took a while, but here's another one. :)

That's a heart garland. It looks very cool!

Hope you enjoy these! Let me know how they turn out (and pretty please, tell me what you plan to do for the summer!) :)

Movies

I really, really, really want to see..........

The Avengers!!!! I think that it is AWESOME even though I haven't seen it :)

My favorite characters (as of now, in my ignorance) are Captain America (love his shield!) and Thor (oh, his accent ♥) :)

I might like Hawkeye or Iron Man. Maybe. I don't know yet.

That's a cool little picture, now isn't it?  Had to make it extra large so I could read it. :)

I hope to see the movie ASAP. My dad might not let me see it in theaters though....so, if that's the case, I'll just bide my time watching the other movies like Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man.

BTW, this is the UK trailer. The Avengers premiered on May 4th in America, not April 26th. I would've gotten another one, but this was the only good one. And, the movie's not called Avengers Assemble...just Avengers.

And one more thing. The 39 Clues is being made into a movie!!!! *gasps in excitement* It's going to be released in 2014, the cast hasn't been picked yet, and Steven Spielberg is producing it. I want to play either Natalie Kabra, Sinead Starling, or an extra :D What about you?

Well, that's all :) Creation Museum pics coming soon, I promise!

Creation Museum

Tomorrow, I'm leaving for the Creation Museum. :D I'm excited, but I don't really know what to expect. I'm still excited, though. I'm also going to be doing Laser Tag and glow in the dark miniature golf. And some other stuff that I don't know about. :)

The reason we're doing all this is because my dad just got a job. My dad had gotten laid off a few months ago and he just got a job a few days ago. This is a blessing and an answer to prayer, and we are very happy..... so, as a sort of celebration we are going on a "vacation" because we probably will not have the money to do so in the near future.

I'm really excited, and I'll let you know how it goes! Upcoming posts include:

Nutella Cheesecakes!

For Mother's Day, I am making my mom Nutella cheesecakes with an Oreo crust. Here's the recipe, if you want to do it too. :) I'll let you know how it goes! (If you do do it, tell me what happens!)

For the Crust

12 Oreo cookies, crushed into crumbs
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

For the Filling

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
2/3 cup Nutella
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 (8 ounce) tub frozen whipped topping, thawed

For the Garnish (optional)

whipped topping, optional
chocolate shavings, optional
toasted, chopped hazelnuts, optional

Directions:

1. In a medium bowl, stir together the Oreo cookie crumbs and melted butter. Evenly divide the crumbs between your individual serving dishes and press into the bottoms of the dishes to form a crust layer.

2. In a large bowl, with an electric mixer, beat the cream cheese and Nutella until smooth. Add vanilla and mix to combine. Using a rubber spatula, fold in the whipped topping until well blended and no streaks remain.

3. Evenly pipe or spoon the filling into individual serving dishes. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.

4. If desired, garnish with additional whipped topping, chocolate shavings, and/or toasted, chopped hazelnuts.

I've heard that it's relatively simple....I can't wait to try it out!
